Ronald McDonald House Charities® of Central Florida finds, creates, and supports programs that directly improve the health and well-being of children and families. Our cornerstone program, the Ronald McDonald House®, provides a home away from home for families with children receiving treatment at hospitals and medical facilities in Orlando. Each night, up to 74 families stay with us to be near their seriously ill or injured children.
The mission of Professional Opportunities Program for Students Inc. (POPS) is to build character in teens to believe and succeed. POPS is a 501(c)(3), nonprofit organization for 15-18 year old, at-risk, high school teenagers. POPS encourages students to complete high school, pursue an advanced education and attain meaningful and gainful employment. POPS program model focuses on character building, college readiness, and career and professional development. We designed this methodology to give students specific knowledge, skill sets, attitudes, behaviors and values. Our activities focus on assisting students in improving their grade point averages, securing work internships and touring colleges throughout the state. Whether they plan to enroll in a vocational training school, a community college or a four-year university, we effectively prepare a POPS student through the training and support they receive in our program.
The mission of Parramore Kidz Zone (PKZ) is to level the playing field for Parramore’s children, equipping them to become successful, healthy, well-educated adults. Parramore Kidz Zone aims to reduce juvenile crime, teen pregnancy, and high school drop-out rates in Orlando’s highest poverty neighborhood, and ultimately replicate this model in other Orlando neighborhoods. PKZ is achieving this by investing in things that make a difference in children’s lives – such as quality early childhood education, after school programs, programs that build family economic success, youth development programs for teenagers, access to health care, mentoring, tutoring, college access assistance and more.
